memsstar® Technology Enters Japanese Market in Partnership with Canon Marketing Japan

Edinburgh, Scotland - March 00th 2008 - memsstar® Technology, etch and deposition equipment supplier to the global MEMS industry, today announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Canon Marketing Japan (Canon MJ) to cooperatively market and promote memsstar® products to leading Japanese MEMS manufacturers and developers.

The partnership between memsstar® and Canon MJ is another significant step in the company's global roll-out supporting increased focus on the Asia-Pacific region.  This follows the recent opening of offices in the United States, due to the growing interest and demand for memsstar's® unique chemical etching and coating technology in the region.

"To properly serve customers in Japan it is very important to have a strong local Japanese partner" stated Tony McKie, Sales Director and co-founder. "Working in coordination with Canon MJ, we have quickly established a solution for Japanese customers to successfully adopt our products and technology. We know that Japan is a key market within the global MEMS picture, and that Japanese customers demand the highest quality, great technology and superior service. With Canon MJ this can now be delivered."

"The MEMS industry increasingly requires cost effective manufacturing equipment solutions for release etching and coating, which were not available before memsstar®" said Mike Leavy, CEO and co-founder. "Japan is home to a number of the MEMS industry's technology leaders, with a strong base of MEMS manufacturers and developers who now need more capable and cost effective equipment solutions. Together with Canon MJ, we look forward to exploiting the opportunities that exist for our technology in Japan."

memsstar® uses vapour phase single wafer processing for the release etch and surface modification process steps as required in most MEMS devices. With unique CCFTTM process control technology and an extensive range of chemistries, users get a wide process window and integrated process controls which far exceed other currently available systems and methods. memsstar® systems deliver fast throughput, small footprint, low consumption and emissions, scalable platforms, process controls and high repeatability at a low entry level cost. System configurations can be matched to suit any situation from R&D to high throughput production - with seamless transfer between environments.
